Artist Bio
Becky Aguilar is a writer, installation artist and teacher whose work centers on food, family and traditions. As a student of Columbia College Chicago’s Interdisciplinary Arts program, her edible interactive installation, Sauce, was a piece that played on the audience’s senses while sharing the family craft of pasta sauce making. Another installation piece, Comfort Food, was part of a larger exhibition in the college’s Book and Paper Center entitled Bridges, Hands and Skulls. Additionally, her latest installation work, The Airing, was exhibited on the Columbia College campus in 2015. With a BA in English and Secondary Education from Northeastern Illinois University, she teaches literature at the high school level in the Chicago Public School system.
